MUMBAI: In the age and era of comprehensive decision-making, it’s natural that individuals with a blend of specialization stand out amongst their peers. They need to have appropriate soft skills and deeper insights pertaining to corporate strategies for achieving better results along with the desired quality and speed. This proposition works strongly for organizations, since risks would alleviate and a constant growth rate is assured.

Hence, today, to ensure smooth functioning of an organization, there is strong demand for professionals with interwoven skills and understanding of both business and law. To bridge the gap between Law and Business Management, a new generation program- MBA (Law) was introduced by the School of Business Management, NMIMS in association with the School of Law.

MBA (Law) comes under the purview of ‘The School of Business Management’ (SBM) of NMIMS. SBM offers the best management education in the country to the individuals who want a transition in their career. A dynamic curriculum designed in conjunction with academics and industry practitioners provides them the opportunities to master new skills and explore varied perspectives.

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) was established in 1981 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) to meet the growing demand for management education. In 2003, NMIMS was declared a Deemed to be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. With the legacy of 40 years, NMIMS has become one of the Top-10 B-schools in India and has emerged as a multi-disciplinary, multi-campus University with 17,000+ students and 750+ full time faculty members.

MBA (Law) encompasses deeper business insights and understanding of corporate strategies, marketing, finance, operations and human resource management, organizational dynamics, compliance requirements etc. which moulds the students in a big way. The knowledge of both management and law across specialisations and skills like Finance, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Leadership, Management, Business Development etc. will be sought after as economies across the globe integrate into the world market.

Graduates with LLB/LLM degree or professional degrees like Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary or Cost Accountancy get opportunity to learn and enhance knowledge of business laws and business administration through this program.

MBA Law: It’s a 2-Year, 6 Trimester course with an intake of 40 seats and out of a total 38 courses,16 are related to Law and 22 are assigned for Management.

Program Objectives:

  • Enriches knowledge for skill development related to management and administration, analyses of business data, multi-modal communication, etc.
  • Hones skill sets with fusion of management & application orientation
  • Enables to think more practically with analyses of business information and effectively apply legal knowledge from the perspective of business needs
  • Equips with additional capabilities for understanding and resolving critical business problems
  • Helps to gain skill sets in matters of laying down legal briefs, policy documents, standard operating  and monitoring procedures for execution of business decisions, etc. in total compliance with laws, regulations, governance requirements, etc.

MBA (Law) is country’s first-of-its-kind program designed to fulfil the needs of contemporary business ecosystem. Hence, it has received tremendous response for on-campus recruitments with some of the corporate giants like Deloitte, Ernst and Young, KPMG, PWC, Marsh, Mahindra Rise, Economic Laws Practice, L&T Technology Services, Marico, Radius, Legasis Services, Vito, Viacom18,  HDFC Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank, Aditya Birla, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Michael Page, IIFL, Berkeley Research Group and others.

To put things succinctly, those passing out of NMIMS with MBA (Law) will be highly sought after professionals in the changing phase of our economy and any organisation which inculcates their expertise is bound to benefit immensely.
