  • 200 schools challenged the government’s decision in the High Court
  • Payment to be made in 3 installments by 31 January

The EdTalk/ Jaipur:

On Monday, Rajasthan High Court delivered an important verdict on the petition filed by private schools. A single bench of High Court, Justice SP Sharma said that private schools can take a total of 70 percent of the fees. Parents will have to make this payment in three installments by 31st January 2020. This order of the High Court has come on the appeal of private schools challenging the decision of Rajasthan Government. The order was given on three petitions, through which around 200 schools challenged the Rajasthan government’s decision.

The Rajasthan government had asked the schools not to incur fees from the parents during the bandh during the corona. Through these three petitions, the private schools had challenged the state government’s order of April 9 and July 7 for suspension of fees. Due to these orders of the state government, private schools were unable to collect fees.

Government ordered not to take private school fees till the school opens
The state government had on April 9 stayed the advance fees by private schools of the state for three months till June 30. The government extended this period until the school reopened on 9 July. In the Corona era, Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara ordered private schools to postpone three months of school fees until 30 June. This order was later extended until the school opened.
